Community Agreement: Driver & Passenger Code of Conduct

What is the Community Agreement?

The RideCarpooling Community Agreement is a binding code of conduct accepted by every driver and passenger who uses our platform. It defines the minimum standards of behaviour, safety, communication, and payment conduct required to maintain an account in good standing.

This agreement exists because carpooling works differently from commercial transport. There are no dispatchers, no terminals, no corporate oversight during the trip. Instead, our community runs on mutual trust, shared expectations, and clear accountability.

Driver Code of Conduct (8 Rule Categories)

• IdentityMaintain a verified, accurate profile — real name, photo, valid licence, insurance, and vehicle registration at all times.
• VehicleKeep your vehicle safe & clean — roadworthy, insured, clean interior, functional seatbelts.
• TimingHonour the route & departure time — depart on time, notify passengers of delays, stick to agreed route.
• SafetyDrive safely — zero exceptions — obey all traffic laws, no phone use while driving, never drive impaired.
• PaymentsNever accept or solicit cash — all payments through the platform. No add-ons or surcharges.
• RespectProvide a respectful environment — no discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour.
• CancellationCancel responsibly — 3 cancellations in 30 days triggers review. 5+ in 60 days may result in suspension.
• CommunicationCommunicate professionally — respond within 4 hours, use in-app messaging only.

Passenger Code of Conduct (8 Rule Categories)

• PunctualityBe ready on time — arrive 5 minutes early, message if late, no last-minute pickup changes.
• PaymentsPay through the platform — never offer cash, no chargebacks without dispute process.
• LuggageDisclose luggage before booking — accurate bag count and size. Oversized undisclosed luggage may be refused.
• ConductBehave respectfully — wear seatbelt, no smoking/vaping, ask before eating.
• RespectTreat everyone with dignity — no discrimination, respect personal space and cultural differences.
• CancellationCancel early & honestly — 24+ hours = full refund, within 24h = 50%, no-shows = no refund.
• CommunicationStay responsive — respond to driver messages, confirm pickup morning of trip.
• SafetyBe an active participant in your safety — verify driver details, share trip, trust instincts.

Rules for All Members (6 Categories)

• Zero ToleranceImmediate permanent ban for: sexual harassment or assault, DUI, weapons, threats, fake profiles, off-platform payment schemes.
• ReviewsLeave honest, fair reviews within 48 hours. No review manipulation or fake ratings.
• PrivacyProtect each other's privacy — never share personal info outside platform, no recording without consent.
• DisputesSubmit disputes through support within 72 hours. Platform decisions are final at platform level.
• AccountKeep account in good standing — maintain 4.0+ rating, complete profile, no multiple accounts.
• EnforcementConsequences: 1st minor = written warning, 2nd = suspension, 3rd/major = permanent ban.
