1 What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners.

We use CookieYes as our Consent Management Platform (CMP). CookieYes displays a cookie consent banner on your first visit and records your preferences securely. All non-essential cookies — including Google Analytics (GA4), Meta Pixel, and TikTok Pixel — are blocked until you explicitly grant consent.

2 Consent Management (CookieYes)

CookieYes automatically blocks all non-essential cookies until you explicitly grant consent for the relevant cookie category. You can view and manage your full consent preferences at any time using the Cookie Settings panel — click the "Cookie Settings" button in the footer of any page on RideCarpooling.com.

Your CookieYes consent record includes a timestamp, the categories you accepted or rejected, and is stored in a first-party cookie on your device. CookieYes does not share this data with any third parties.

5 Managing & Controlling Cookies

You have several options for managing cookies:

6 Your Consent Rights (GDPR & PIPEDA)

Strictly Necessary cookies are always active — they are required for core platform functionality (login, booking, payment) and do not require consent under GDPR or PIPEDA.

For users in the EEA, we process cookie data on the basis of consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) for non-essential cookies. Under PIPEDA (Canada), we obtain meaningful consent before placing any non-essential tracking technologies on your device.

7 Cookie Retention & Audit Schedule

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for the duration specified in the table above. The CookieYes consent cookie is retained for 365 days.

We re-run the CookieYes auto-scan every 3 months as required under GDPR Article 13 and PIPEDA. Last audit: May 16, 2026. Next scheduled audit: August 16, 2026.

8 Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you via the CookieYes consent banner. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
